New MagnaFlow Overland Series Exhaust Install on a Toyota 4Runner

More ground clearance, improved sound, and the quality you expect.

We all want an off-road vehicle that sounds as mean as it looks. However, when a few hours of highway lie between you and the next trailhead, you also don't want your pipes droning away with a headache-inducing tone before you even touch the dirt. MagnaFlow combats this problem with its Overland Series performance exhaust, a system designed for off-road enthusiasts who cover long distances in their rigs and demand the tone quality, durability, and enhanced trail capability the company is known for.

Long expeditions can add weight to your vehicle, whether from a rooftop tent, cooking gear, and fuel; an off-road trailer; or the whole family in the back seat—and that can rob your rig of power. The MagnaFlow Overland Series exhaust can get you a boost in performance to offset the weight of your next adventure. Because of its high-clearance design, the MagnaFlow Overland Series exhaust tucks above your vehicle's framerails and skidplates, reducing the chances of contact with obstacles on the trail and subsequently damaging your pipes. Even the tailpipe, a part of the exhaust commonly attracted to stationary objects, stays high and clear.

We installed the MagnaFlow Overland Series exhaust system on a fifth-gen Toyota 4Runner. Follow along!

The old exhaust exited out behind the bumper, and in addition to making a bit too much noise, it was exposed to dirt and rocks when we traversed obstacles.

Looking at the MagnaFlow Overland Series exhaust system, we noticed the stainless-steel construction. After a bit of persuasion, the fasteners on our old semi-corroded system came loose, making way for the new MagnaFlow pipes.

Notice how the new MagnaFlow Overland Series tailpipe sits within the vehicle's departure angle. This means even if the rig's back bumper skids down a ledge, the tailpipe remains safe from damage.

Everything is high and tight above framerails and skidplates.

We took the 4Runner and its new MagnaFlow Overland Series exhaust out on the road in search of some trails and were happy to find a tamer tone when on the highway. When we got our foot into the gas, it was clear that MagnaFlow can, in fact, make a V-6 sound good.
